Did you know that soy wax candles are a relatively new product? Other types of natural waxes, like beeswax, have been used for centuries but it wasn’t until the early 1990’s that a man named Michael Richards developed soy wax while searching for a cheaper alternative for beeswax. You see, beeswax was up to 10 times more expensive than paraffin wax, a petroleum based wax that is still commonly used today.
